Historical Narrative (Promise)

Promise

“Promise you’ll come back safely Daddy,” the words of his eight-year-old daughter rang in his ears.

Looking at her straight in the eyes, he assured her, “I promise.”

He smiled, gave her a big hug, and left. He was one of the many who fought valiantly for the independence of their country.

All Bong Leong felt was pain. A searing and wretched pain surged throughout his entire body. Many times he wanted to give up and fall into the abyss of darkness. Yet each time he wanted to do so, the promise he made to his daughter would surface in his head. He has made a pact to return home and he would do his best to keep to his word. Picking himself up, Bong Leong struggled to get up.

But it was all useless at this moment. He knew it would come, the death. Yet he would never regret about fighting for his country.

The battle is going on. The smell of gun powder lingered in the air. Smoke from the cannons made it difficult to see the enemy. All around him, comrades were falling down onto the ground, with big red stains on their chests. Grenades being thrown. Soon after, those grenades rock the ground beneath him, causing him to quiver even more. The grenade blows up a deep hole into the earth, and couple of men shoots up into the air, with blood splattering out of their bodies. He could feel the fire burning inside him. He threw a few grenades to the Japanese and continued to shot them with his musket.

When he reached to the front line, he saw a comrade wiggling on the ground near the bush. His sympathy took control and he trotted over to the fallen soldier.

"Comrade, are you ok?" He knelt next to him and realized that the soilder wasn’t wiggling, but writhing. Writhing in pain he could not invoke the courage to imagine. Bong Leong soon noticed the blood was seeping through the soldier's clothes and onto his hands. He quickly tear out a piece of cloth from his uniform to stop the heavy flow of blood while the soldier was coughing. a familiar metallic taste gathered on Bong Leong's tongue; the blood of a dying comrade.

The soldier reached up and grabbed Bong Leong's shirt.

"Sav...sa..ve me..'' He tried to speak, and Bong Leong quicker closed his mouth, trying to avoid another bitter mishap.

Before the soldier had time to take another breath, a bullet whizzed through the air and entered his chest. His eyes grew dark, his hands became clammy, and Bong Leong watched as his life was slowly sucked away.

Now Bong Leong was running, red fury surging to his eyeballs and pounding in his ears. Boon Leong charged towards the enemy’s frontier, yelling fiendishly and lugging his musket awkwardly. Suddenly, he felt the first bullet punch into his shoulder, lurched, almost fell. However, that did not deter him from his charge. He continued running, with his arms tighten, hands clench, as he feels his own blood ooze out of his body and the soft fabric of cloth trying to stop it. The second caught his opposite arm and he spun drunkenly. The tastes of gun powder mixed with blood linger on his tongue. .

A grenade came from behind. Landing at his feet. He stared at it vacantly for a moment. Then came an interminable instant of panic. The ground beneath his feet exploded and he was sent to the crimson stained grass.

His vision blurred, but he could still vaguely saw the enemy drawing nearer. The figure with knelt over him and an evil grin spread across his demonic face. He raised the barrel of his gun to Bong Leong's head and after a loud bang, the promise was broke forever. Daddy could no longer return home…

I feel sad when i saw people in all around the world suffered from natural disaster. And now, China, my own country, and my friends in China, is suffering from debris flow.  Many people died and others were injured badly from the previous Sichan earth quake. Youngsters like me had lost their parents and friends. I had view some picture online, its about a 8years old boy and his sister 3 years old, had lost both their father and mother. They had no relatives in the world anymore. And the little boy need to take care of his young sister, he is just a  infancy boy who do not even know how to take care of himself. But now, he need to look after his little sister, while others childs were playing, hes feeding his sister, i cry badly while reading the new article.
I feel that i am so lucky that live in a safe place like Singapore. No disaster and it is peace. I feel guilty. I felt sorry about them, the little boy are so innocent, with his sister. Both were still so young, why do they need to suffered this kind of horrible disaster? Not only them, there were still many other child that had suffered from the disaster. I feel so sad to know the facts that millions of people had lost their home, and millions of people had died.
Personally, I donate some money to the Chinese Embassy. Althought it is very little amount of money but i really want to do some things to help them. And from the deep of my heart, I would  grieve over the unfortunate people. I wish people will stop suffering from the natural disaster.

cross country

Annual Cross Country

Today is chongboon secondary’s Annual Cross Country. Not willing to go but it is established. Wake up in the early morning and taking bus 165 to the maritchi reservoir. The air is really fresh there. But it is also very hot! Many people crowded at one place, and all the noise scared away the birds.

We all assembled at the huge tree and waited for our teacher taking attendance. Follow by the pledge taking and the national anthem singing. After that the secondary 2 pupils went to LIM BO SENG’s tomb. And ms sasi briefly explained to us about the history of LIM BO SENG.

After that we began our race. Truly, it is really tiring but also fun! I ran through out the jungle. In the jungle I never stop before, but after out of the jungle I began to fell like given up. However, the red cross pupils at the side of the road kept asking me to run and encourage me. So I manage to get a 18th position for my cross country.

After running, I felt my heart was burning. It can not stop racing at once, my face going red like apple and I’m sweating like just bathing. So I bought a can of green tea for the red cross cadet.

After that was prize giving. Obviously, I didn’t get any prize. Hahas. But vishnu and his friend manage to get 1st in the lower sec competition. They were so fast! I didn’t even saw them.

I’m really happy today. I ran the fastest among my friend. Haha, I know it’s kinda silly. But I’m looking forwards to the next year’s cross country. Hope that I can get in top 10. haha. Dreaming.

sports fiesta

Sports Fiesta

This is my second year participating in the sports fiesta. I don’t like it actually. The weather is so hot and it’s held so early in the hottest month this year. It’s like burning us! Really! Same as last year, it is held at Serangoon Stadium.

I went there by my self. It is early in the morning and the weather is really burning me. The stadium was filled with people, super crowded and it’s noisy as a market. I saw my classmate and went to say hello to them. After taking our attendance we break in to our own house and start the events.

I watch the competitors compete with full of their strength and I really have a great admiration for their spirit. One thing I have to say is, no matter what position they get. They are winners already.

The results of the competition, actually is not what I want to see. Haha! But never mind, at least my house gets second. They had tried their best already! Shouldn’t be upset, hydro is the best!

Although today’s weather is really hot. But I’m still very happy because I thought it will be a very boring day. But my house gets 3rd place. Congratulation! Hydros! You will get 1st next year! I trust you!

Looking forward to the sports fiesta next year!
